Elder Exchange: First Peoples in the Shenandoah Valley

You are invited to attend our next Elder Exchange, a thoughtful presentation followed by replies from selected responders and open dialogue. Carole Nash, professor in the School of Integrated Science at James Madison University will present “First Peoples in the Shenandoah Valley.” Sam Funkhouser, executive director of Brethren & Mennonite Heritage Center and Elwood Yoder, retired high school and bible teacher, will serve as responders.
About the presenter
Carole Nash, Ph.D., and her students maintain a long-term research program in western Virginia. Currently, she serves as president of Mountain Valley Archaeology, a non-profit organization that partners with the public. She also co-directs the Virginia Archaeological Certification Program, a citizen science initiative. Carole is the author of over 175 technical reports, scholarly papers and publications. She served as a cooperating archaeologist for Shenandoah National Park for twenty years.
