Give Now to help Over Time
Good Samaritan Fund is an annual giving fund. Visit our online store to participate in our current fundraiser. Gifts received are spent in the same year given – typically around $270,000. Compassion Endowment operates longer term. Gifts are invested, and VMRC only uses a portion of earnings each year – approximately $180,000.
Fortunately, people are living longer than ever before. Unfortunately, not everyone has sufficient assets to keep up with their longevity. Visit our online store to participate in our current fundraiser.
While Medicaid covers part of the daily care expenses, it is only for eligible low-income recipients and covers only a portion of their long-term care—and only after their personal assets have been depleted.
As a faith-based community, VMRC values providing compassionate care for residents no matter what – including the inability to pay. But, we can’t do it alone. It takes a community and the combined efforts and generosity of family, church, friends, VMRC members, and government aid, through our Good Samaritan Fund and Compassion Endowment.
You also might consider including VMRC in your gift planning. You can make gifts directly to VMRC through a Donor Advised Fund or through direct gifts to charity from your IRA if you are 70 ½ or older. Consult your financial advisor or accountant about how these benefits might work for you.
