Blooming Community With Our Beloved “Flower Lady”

Carolyn Wilson felt like she was home from the first time she drove up The Park Village driveway. She shares that VMRC isn’t an institution, it’s a community. We are blessed to have so many wonderful residents here that spread joy and shine their light wherever they go. Carolyn is that very kind of person.

Having been a Master Gardener for 12 years prior to coming to VMRC, Carolyn shares her gifts with the whole VMRC community as a volunteer on our farm. She helped grow our farm’s flower program by leaps and bounds by coordinating other volunteers and creating beautiful bouquets that are available for purchase in our general store or gifted to those that need it.

Many of our residents come from an agricultural background and volunteering on the farm among the flowers can bring back fond memories of their childhood. Now, Carolyn has become so recognizable within our community that she says, “People I don’t even know will see my name and say, ‘Oh, you’re the flower lady!’ It’s cool, I like to be the flower lady!”

We are proud to offer a wide variety of enrichment programs for residents like Carolyn who share the gift of giving back. Her story exemplifies VMRC’s mission – to cultivate compassion, integrity, and respect for aging well and living fully.
